I also keep a wireless mini-mouse connected directly to my main audio DAW at my desk when I occasionally need to do something very quickly there, for when I'm mainly working with the VSTi machine.just more capabilities that I can use, or not use. My mouse/keyboard is connected to the KVM, and operates the either machine as I needed. I didn't feel the need to buy a dual-monitor KVM for twice the price btw. How I use them.my dedicated VSTi machine has (1) monitor, my audio machine has (2) monitors.though only ONE monitor, the one for my VSTi's machine is connected to the KVM for now. It's capabilities exceed my current needs, but when I start experimenting with more machines it'll be there.Ĭurrently I only use two machines with my KVM. The fact that it has audio that I won't be using is no problem. 1st off, as I mentioned my KVM allows me to share external USB devices like HDD's or a DVD RW drive etc.this will be even more important for me down the line when I house my machines in a huge cabinet rack. It also provides some advantages over using software like Synergy (which worked great too). For me, this KVM works out great, it only takes a second to switch over & be recognized. It works with my wireless Logitech keyboard & mouse, but the mouse is jumpy so I went wired for the mouse.keyboard works fine. It has Hot-Keys that I typically use for switching my keyboard/mouse between machines, though I can also press the big buttons on the KVM. It even has a secondary USB port to use as a hub connection, in which I have an external USB HDD connected to (non-powered when not in use), and is my solution to sharing files between machines being I have all networking capabilities disabled. I needed VGA ports, and USB ports for my mouse & keyboard. There are many KVM switches available for your own personal needs.
