Although Sibelius 2019.12 will run on Windows 7, Avid will not be supporting any of its products running on Windows 7 after that date, including Sibelius.

In Windows-land, it has been known for a while that Microsoft will be ending support for Windows 7 on January 14, 2020. The good news is that Sibelius 2019.12, as was the case with 2019.9, is fully supported on Apple’s latest: macOS 10.15 Catalina.

Sibelius’s chief competition, Finale and Dorico, already have a minimum OS requirement of 10.12 on the Mac side. This does mean that if you’re still running 10.10 or 10.11, you’ll need to stick with Sibelius 2019.9 until you update at least to macOS 10.12 Sierra. While it doesn’t seem like that long ago, with Cupertino now sending out new OSs on an annual basis, they are ancient history. Those versions of Apple’s operating system were released in 20, respectively. Sibelius 2019.12 will not run on Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite and Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan. OS compatibilityīefore you update, however, take note of some changes to the operating systems that will be compatible with Sibelius 2019.12. In addition, more of the interface has been made accessible to screen readers for vision-impaired users. This year-end update tidies up a number of items behind the scenes, some of which are thanks to another update to the Qt application framework that provides the cross-platform tools necessary for Sibelius to run on Mac and Windows.

Today Avid released Sibelius 2019.12, its latest update to Sibelius and presumably final update for 2019.
